6 Months Old

I can't believe Sloan is 6 months old. That is half a year!!! I mean that is such a long time. It is weird, it seems like just yesterday that Sloan was born, an adorable little blob that I had no clue how to take care of. At the same time I can't remember life without her. I feel like she has been around for years. I think maybe I feel this way not because I don't remember life without her, but because I love her so incredibly much that I can't imagine life without her.

So here are some stats and milestones for Sloan at 6 months:

Weight: 15 pounds 15 ounces
Height: 26 inches
Favorite Thing to Do: Look at herself in the mirror (She thinks she is hilarious)
Least Favorite Thing to Do: Eat Veggies
Newest Skill: Almost mastered the art of sitting
Other Skills: She is a proficient roller and rolls everywhere she wants to go
Favorite Toy: Exersaucer
Favorite Song: Popcorn
Misc: She can grasp, pick up and hold everything. She feeds herself her own bottle. She is still the happiest most smiley baby ever!

Sloan Eats

So we finally started to give Sloan food. I waited until the last dire moment because I am not ready to be done nursing and I didn't want solids to affect Sloan's desire for nursing. We started Sloan on rice cereal about a week ago and then veggies on Sunday. Sloan likes the cereal, but the veggies...that is a whole other story. Let's just say that the first few spoonfuls resulted in a shiver face, followed shortly by dry heaves. The funniest part of the story is that it didn't stop with the dry heaves. So if anyone knows my husband they know he is kind of a picky eater. In fact when he was younger his mom used to make him eat certain veggies that he didn't want to eat. So what would he do? He would eat them and then puke...just to show his mom he really didn't want them. Well guess what, today Sarah tried to feed Sloan some peas and she didn't only dry heave, she puked...actually puked. So if anyone was wondering, she must be her fathers daughter!

Here are some pics from Sloan's first food.

Well first, like I said Sloan is proficient at feeding herself her own bottles. The other day she was in the middle of eating and it must have just been far too tiring because she fell fast asleep. Bottle in hand and milk dripping down the side of her mouth. I had to throw this one in there.

Rice cereal....GOOD

Green Peas...not so much!!!

March Madness

March has been kind of all over the place. This has mainly been manifested by the weather. Two weeks ago it snowed about 4 inches, the most I have ever seen it snow in Charlotte. It was freezing for about three days and then suddenly it got warmer and by the weekend it was 79. I blame all this craziness for the reason I keep getting sick. I mean one day we are in our winter parkas and the next we are busting out the shorts and flip flops. So in the midst of all the craziness here are some pics and updates from March.

One day snow...

Next day sun and walks in the park (or cemetery, hey when you live in the city you find grass where you can).

Here is Sloan getting ready to crawl. Actually she isn't even close, but hey pushing up on your tummy is step one right?

Sloan is really good at holding her own bottle now. She has been doing this for a while with Sarah, but since I rarely feed her from a bottle, this is the first I have been able to get a picture of it. She is just getting so big.

Here are some pictures from the rest of the month of February, and also because my sister asked me to post some more.

Sloan has her first friend. Our nanny Sarah has a daughter who is about 3 months older than Sloan. Sarah took this picture of Sloan and Emmaline playing the other day. I mean how funny is this picture? I can't believe Sarah actually captured this moment. As you can see, Sloan usually spends the day in her jammies...oops. Don't mind the blue little boy jammies she is wearing in this picture, they have dogs on them so we had to buy them.

Sloan and her lovey that she always cuddles with.

5 Months Old

I can't believe my baby is 5 months old. It is crazy how fast time flies (how come it didn't go this fast when I was big, pregnant and miserable?). This is Sloan's first Valentines Day. I am actually not really a huge fan of this holiday, but it gave me an excuse to dress my babe up in lots of cute pink clothes.

So here is Sloan's 5 month update. I don't have a well check this month so I am not sure of her exact stats, but I think she weighs around 15.5 pounds. She rolls over and in the last few days has become very proficient at getting her arm out from under her and even rolling back the other way. She is still the most smiley baby on the planet and has just started to really giggle (although I still have to work pretty hard for it and it tends to be short lived). She loves to play with toys and grab on to them and put them in her mouth. she is definitely still not sleeping through the night (some nights are better than others), but she only wakes up to eat and then falls right back to sleep. However she does sleep a lot since she goes to bed at like 6:30pm and sleeps until 7:00 or 7:30am the next morning. She is really good when we go out to the mall or dinner or whatever and mostly just hangs out and looks cute so everyone around us will comment on how cute she is (I tell you, she is a ham and loves to play it up for a crowd!). I just love her so much and am so blessed to have her in my life!!!

Valentine's Day in her Bumbo (actually it is our Nanny's Bumbo that she leaves at our house, thanks Sarah!).

I realize pretty much every picture I have of Sloan is in this same position on the couch, but when your child can't sit up you are pretty limited for options!

Sloan and her dad on the couch just hanging. She will literally hang with him and watch him work on the computer just like this.

Just an extra bonus pic, too many good ones to chose from. She is so scrumptious!!!

I love you sweet baby girl, thank you for coming into my life!

What's The Deal?

Alright, so all of the sudden there are like 3 or 4 people who's blogs I check regularly that just made it so you have to have permission to view their blogs. Now I don't check everyones blogs every day or anything, but I check them often enough that I thought I would have seen them say they were going to go private. But I guess I must have missed it. So anyway, if you have recently blocked your blog please give me access because I am so sad I can't keep up on what is going on in everyones life. Pretty Please?

Moments You Wish Would Never End

The other night Sloan must have been really tired because she suddenly became very cuddly. We sat in the rocking chair for like an hour and she just laid her head on my shoulder. Sloan isn't what I would call a cuddle bug. Sometimes she has her moments, but for the most part they don't last for more than a few minutes. But for some reason in this moment she just cuddled with me for like an hour. I seriously took it in and enjoyed every last moment of it. I didn't want it to end!

I had to throw this picture of Odie in. Odie doesn't have a problem just helping himself to anything he can find. This was a Carmel he found on the table, wrapper and all. He just held it in his mouth, he didn't try to eat it or anything. I guess since he couldn't figure out the wrapper he decided to just hold it there. It is moments like this I bet Odie really wishes he had an opposable thumb!

Happy Baby

If anyone was wondering, I have the happiest baby ever. I feel so lucky to have such a good baby. She is so chill and will just hang out with me pretty much all day. If she does get unhappy over something it is really easy to just talk to her or sing her a song (she loves patty cake and popcorn) and she is happy again. I know that in a few months when she starts to want to move and can't I might be eating my words. But as of today, I have the happiest, most well behaved baby! Just in case you don't believe me here is some proof.

Pictures after church.

This is Sloan just hanging out with her dad. I should also mention that even though she is only 4 months old she turns into a total ham the second the camera comes out.

I had to throw this picture in. I have started to swaddle Sloan with one arm out because she rolls over in her sleep too easily when she is totally swaddled. The other night I walked in to check on her and this is what I found. Totally dramatic even in her sleep. Now I don't think Sloan will grow up to be quite as dramatic as her cousin Lyza, but she may have a gene or two of drama in her family line that has been passed down to her.
